How to deep canvass and get voters to the polls with Changing The Conversation for Progress

In Philadelphia, more than 90% of eligible residents are registered to vote but only 66% made it to the polls to cast their ballot in 2020, and even fewer (23%) participated in the recent PA primary election.

The Philadelphia Citizen, Changing The Conversation for Progress (CTC), Better Civics, Young Involved Philadelphia, and PA Youth Vote hosted a storytelling workshop and training on deep canvassing, to help get out the vote in North Philly this summer and fall.

CTC delves into how its method of deep canvassing has turned nonvoters into voters over the last few elections with the help of volunteers. Then, they guide us in developing our own voting story to take door to door in group outings from late June through the November general election. Together, we can grow turnout among our fellow citizens to create real change in Philadelphia!


** What Is Deep Canvassing? **
Deep canvassing is the most effective form of voter persuasion that’s ever been measured. It is a way to engage voters emotionally, through 10 to 15 minute conversations and listening sessions that have a lasting impact on voter behavior.


** Why It's Important **
PA is a linchpin in the coming midterms, which could have a profound impact on our country. But far too many people will sit this election out. This event helps volunteers craft their own story to prepare for this summer and fall as CTC goes door to door, forging personal bonds through a deep-canvassing method that's proven to motivate voters and reconnect them with democracy.
