The United States has established a massive land empire akin to those of China and Russia, however, with outliers like Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, and historically lands like Panama, Liberia, and the Philippines,  we have to ask ourselves why didn't America establish colonies in the same way countries like France and Britain had? America appears to have had the potential to do so, which is why today we answer and explain that question but also explore an alternate history where that changed. What if America had a colonial empire?
