Henri Toulouse-Lautrec was inspired by the vibrant nightlife of 19th-century Paris, particularly the Moulin Rouge and Cabaret venues. His life was marked by tragedy, including childhood leg injuries and a later struggle with alcohol addiction that contributed to his early death at age 36. Despite his personal challenges, Toulouse-Lautrec's paintings and graphic works are now recognized as significant contributions to the post-impressionist age. He was known for his graphic art and poster designs, particularly for the Moulin Rouge, and his work celebrated the lively and hedonistic aspects of Parisian life.
