In part 2 we looked at single point AF and continuous AF to capture a static image and one with skateboarder Rees filling the frame as he came towards the camera. Now he's off to the side because I want to frame him with the pillars.

When you're photographing a moving subject that's coming towards you but you don't want them in the middle of the frame. You need to think the image through and combine the autofocus modes you need to achieve the image you want.

So I'm using continuous AF combined with Dynamic area mode and multi frame burst mode. Lets think it through. Continuous auto focus mode will keep re-focussing the camera as he comes towards me. Dynamic area mode lets me choose an area of the frame and tell the camera to concentrate focus on that area only. And multi frame burst mode means I can keep my finger on the shutter button as he comes towards me.

So all I need to do is keep my shot composed with the dynamic auto focus area I selected on the right of the frame on Rees.

One final step would be to ensure I have a fast enough shutter speed to freeze the motion - and make sure there's no camera shake through the longer lens I'm using. Check out our camera shake film at http://www.photographycourses.biz/cam...
