This is one of Queen's most popular bootlegs of all time, obviously due to its fantastic sound quality.
Freddie's voice has taken a beating at this point of the tour, his higher range sounds very strained and almost every other song has a voice crack or two (or more), However this show's vocal performance is still historically important, as this is the first recorded instance where Freddie would perform his iconic vocal exchange during Now I'm Here. It's fairly short tonight, but they would expand on it greatly over the years.
Notably, this is one of the worst performances of Brighton Rock on the tour. Brian breaks a string, so Roger ends up doing an impromptu drum solo, but Brian's attempt to jump back into the jam is a bit awkward, some theorize that it was due to monitoring issues.
An issue that not many people seem to talk about, there's a rare instance of Roger dropping a drumstick during If You Can't Beat Them. For a couple of bars, he plays with only his left hand and kick, but smoothly recovers.
Outside of those iffy spots, you've still got a fantastic and timeless performance that is sure to rock you!

On the remaster side of things, this one was nowhere near as complex as my past few. The original AUD was already fantastic, so I was simply just polishing up some sore spots and doing some EQ. The greatest improvement, I'd say, is the EQ. The high-end is dulled out on the original mix, so the cymbals and hi-hat were very buried. The original tape was also incredibly bassy, pretty much had a 60% bass and 40% treble feel. That was the primary change here.
One of the other issues with this tape, was that during applause sections, for some reason the taper or somebody close to them kept slapping the right channel microphone. It ends up clipping the audio with the EQ applied, so I used a mixture of iZotope RX's EQ, De-click, and Spectral Repair tools to tame them, though not entirely removing them to avoid artifacts.
This remaster was a request by Bob, AKA The Real Wizard of queenlive.ca fame. Through the decades, he has done invaluable work towards the Queen bootleg community, so this is the least that I could do to show my appreciation.
