Name- Milan Amatya
Milan Amatya is Assam’s most well known Singer. She has sung in all the major north eastern languages (Assames,Bodo, Mishing ) beside Nepali & Rajsthani.
Childhood
Milan Amatya was born on January 27,1986 in Nunaikhuti,Goriajhar Assam, into a Nepali household.
Inspiration & Training in music
Her exposure to music began in infancy. Her Training in music started at the age of 4 at her birthplace & after that, at the age of 11 she moved to Guwahiti for more exposure to musical world.
Milan’s musical studies were not limited to hearing her father & mother sing.She also studied under her Aunty Dukuna Newar & accuired a good background in folk music and was trained by Shree BadriVyas in Rajsthani Folk Music.
Her Mother Mrs. Ambika Newar & Father Shree Ganesh Newar are her inspiration.
Early Carrer & Achievements
After coming to Guwahati, She Joined production company “Surganga” which has date released 40 albums of Rajsthani folk songs,10 asamese ,4 Bodo Albums & 10 Neplai Albums.
2003, proved to be a very crucial year in her life. This Year on 30th October, She participated in allIndia Musical Competation organized by Surganga. The Programme was based on Assames and Rajsthani Folk songs and the programme was judged by Famoush Musical maestro of Bollywood Late Naushad Ali and Famoush Gajal Singer Pinaz Masani accompanied by famous classical singer Shushila Rani Patel & Rajsthani Folk singer Badri Vyas From Assam.
MIaln was the 1st runner up on this show and after this there was no looking back. After This competation she decided to launch her own album of folk songs and her musical carrer began to flourish.
