To translate text using your iPhone’s camera, open the camera app and point your camera at the text you’d like to translate. Once the yellow border appears around the text, tap the Live Text button in the bottom right corner. In the menu that appears, tap the arrow to view more options, then select Translate. If needed, choose the language you want to translate to. You can then read the translated text. This is super useful to read signs, menus, and other text while travelling! You can also copy the translation if you want to paste it into a note, message, email or other app.

To translate text from images in your iPhone camera roll, open the Photos app and go to a photo containing text you want to translate. Then, tap and hold on the text to select it. Adjust your selection using the markers at the beginning and end of the selected text. Then, tap the text to bring a pop-up menu. Tap the arrow to see more options, then select Translate. Just like the camera translation tool, select the language you want to translate to if needed. Then, read your translated text. You can also copy the translation if you want to paste it into a note, message, email or other app. If you tap the Play button, your translation will be read out loud.
