What is Graffiti?
Graffiti appeared in the United States in the second half of the twentieth century and spread rapidly to other European cities. The walls of buildings, subway tunnels, train carriages and even street signs on the streets are the targets of graffiti artists for their works.
A phenomenon that is referred to today around the world as "graffiti art". The art originated in Philadelphia in the late 1960s by graffiti artists Cornbread and Cool Earl. The movement spread rapidly in New York City, with letters and pseudonyms appearing on buildings, mailboxes, telephone booths, subway tunnels, buses, and eventually train cars.
Taki 183, whose name is heard all over New York, was interviewed by the New York Times in 1971. Taki's real name was Dimitrios and 183 was the name of the street where Taki lived. This young Greek man wrote his name as a letter writer almost everywhere during his working hours. Joe 136, El 159, Yankee 135 and Julio 204 were other letters that appeared on the city walls and doors at that time.
Spray painting
By 1937, graffiti had spread from the streets to the train carriages and was rapidly becoming a competitive art. At this time, most murals involved writing a person's name. The writers wrote their names on the wagons as much as possible, and when they went from station to station, they repeated the same thing inside the wagons. It did not take long for them to realize that their name could be written inside the train station with a little more time for painting, and they were not arrested.
This concept and method of bombing is very popular today. Each train line has its own king. A king is a writer whose works have been seen the most, bigger and more beautiful. Kings, on the other hand, are revered by writers, and graffiti artists sometimes ask the king to help him draw at night.
