A TALE OF TWO MICROBES
A rarely seen performance from Frank Muir and the marvelous June Whitfield in an educational film for Unilever in 1971.
Synopsis from the BFI database:
An educational film on food hygiene and the dangers of bacteria developing such as salmonella, illustrated by a humorous story. The whirlwind marriage of Basil and Desdemonia Salmonella, and their success in raising a family two days later in some warmed-up food, is used to covey a serious message. The film is concerned with establishing a proper perspective between the personal and environmental aspects of food hygiene. It deals with the question of original contamination or cross-contamination of food; then goes on to illustrate the most commonly found circumstances in the shop, the canteen and restaurant, or the home in which favourable conditions may allow bacterial growth to become a danger to health. Suitable for Middle school science and domestic science.
This is a new digital transfer from an original 16mm Technicolor print.
