A customer dropped off a
A customer dropped off a Conrad Johnson MV-60 tube amplifier for repair. upon initial checkout everything looks perfect but upon power up I noticed the filament for the driver and pre amp tubes were not lit. After some troubleshooting I determined it had a bad (not blown) fuse caused by a contact resistance and thus a heat generating issue. If you look closley in the beginning both preamp tubes looked absolutely perfect but later on the right channel preamp tube lost its internal coating, I believe this was because the tube was cracked when the customer replaced it but never had voltage applied to vaporize the internal coating.
