Artist Spotlight: NOH Suntag - The Shape of Time: Korean Art after 1989

"I am interested in that which elicits unexpected thoughts and emotions… Work that is unfamiliar and strange and yet lingers in the mind.”

Noh Suntag’s work delivers this effect and offers an audience so much more.

Included in “The Shape of Time” are funerary portraits Noh rephotographed from the tombs of those who died during the Gwangju uprising in 1980.

Each portrait depicts a human spirit. Each portrait helps to tell a story that Noh is shepherding, eliciting the all the thoughts and emotions he wants us to explore.
