Steps on how to use the Integrating Factor Method to solve first order linear differential equations (ODE)
The first step is to make sure your first order linear ODE is in the form: dy/dx + P(x)y = Q(x) where P(x) and Q(x) are functions of x or a constant.
The next step is to find the integrating factor which is given by e raised to the integral of P(x).
The integrating factor then needs to be multiplied throughout the problem question. The equation can now be solved by integrating both sides with respect to x and dividing through by the integrating factor.
