The INTELLIGENT PARK PILOT has brought about a significant advancement in driverless parking, reaching SAE Level 4 capability. This innovation enables the EQE sedan to autonomously park in the P6 car park at Stuttgart Airport. Moreover, this feature is being retrospectively extended to previously delivered Mercedes-Benz EQS and S-Class vehicles. The plan also includes implementing fully automated parking for the upcoming E-Class.

The process involves driving into a multi-storey car park, exiting the vehicle, and then utilizing a smartphone to direct the car to a pre-reserved parking spot. The integration of the parking package with remote parking functions and the Mercedes me connect service INTELLIGENT PARK PILOT has made the EQE sedan capable of fully automated and driverless parking at SAE Level 4. Additionally, the Automated Valet Parking, under the same technology, is now accessible for all EQS and S-Class models that have been equipped and delivered. This technology will soon be available for other Mercedes-Benz models, including the new E-Class.

The key advantage of this automated parking system is the elimination of the need for searching or parking, saving valuable time and offering enhanced convenience, especially in tight parking spaces. The driver reserves a parking space ahead of time via the Mercedes me app. The vehicle can be left in a designated drop-off area within the parking facility. The parking process starts when all occupants exit the vehicle and activate it through the app. Once the app confirms that the automated valet parking system has taken control, the driver can leave the car park. The car then autonomously navigates to its reserved parking spot and parks itself using the Bosch infrastructure. When the driver returns, a simple smartphone command initiates the vehicle's self-parking journey to the pick-up area, ready for departure.

Mercedes-Benz and Bosch made history in November 2022 by receiving the world's first approval for the series operation of their fully automated and driverless parking system in Germany. The APCOA multi-storey car park P6 at Stuttgart Airport became the inaugural location where Mercedes-Benz customers could experience the benefits of automated valet parking.
