There is a very nice little trick you can follow which allows you to die or fail as many times as you like and still receive the Trophy.

When you do perish it gives you the option to restart from last checkpoint or to quit game, DO NOT restart from checkpoint.
Quit your game to the main menu then load your most recent Autosave, this way will not register your death allowing you to die repeatedly and still receive your nice shiny Trophy!  
Your Autosave will also start you from almost where you died making this trick incredibly useful and just fantastic!
