Mickey Mantle's Home Run That Almost Left Yankee Stadium | New York Yankees

Pinstripes of the Past: No player ever hit a home run outside the confines of Yankee Stadium, but Mickey Mantle came the closest. On May 30, 1956, Mantle crushed a home run that reportedly came within 18 inches of leaving the stadium. It bounced back onto the field, was tossed back into the dugout, and then was given to Mantle's teammate Eddie Robinson, who then displayed it at his restaurant in Baltimore for many years.
