GNU | A look at what underpins a stable Government of National Unit: Dr Kagiso Pooe

As South Africa's political landscape remains tense with the DA and ANC still locked in complex negotiations, we still do not have a Cabinet yet. Negotiations hit a snag on Wednesday when the ANC proposed a new arrangement involving fewer portfolios for the DA, reneging from earlier discussions. It needs to be noted though that a Government of National Unity is not in place yet, we only have a statement of intent. As the parties are locked in negotiations towards establishing this GNU, we take a critical look at how the South African GNU can draw parallels from the GNUs of advanced economies which were deemed a success, juxtaposed with GNUs which flopped.
