Question 1:-The first law of thermodynamics for isothermal process is:(a) q=-W (b) Δ U = W (c) Δ U = q v (d) Δ U =-q v
Question 2:-The process is spontaneous at the given temperature, if:(a) ΔH is +ve and ΔS is –ve (b) ΔH is-ve and ΔS is +ve (c) ΔH is +ve and ΔS is +ve (d) ΔH is +ve and ΔS is equal to zero.
Question 3:-The combustion of benzene (l) gives CO 2 (g) and H 2 O (l). Given that heat of combustion of benzene at constant volume is –3263.9 kJ mol –1 at 25° C ; heat of combustion (in kJ mol –1 ) of benzene at constant pressure will be - (R = 8.314 JK –1 mol –1 )
Question 4:-An isolated box, equally partitioned contains two ideal gases A and B as shown. When the partition is removed, the gases mix. The changes in enthalpy (ΔH) and entropy (ΔS) in the process, respectively, are:(a) zero, positive (b) zero, negative (c) positive, zero (d) negative, zero
Question 5:-A piston filled with 0.04 mol of an ideal gas expands reversibly from 50.0 mL to 375 mL at a constant temperature of 37.0 o C. As it does so, it absorbs 208 J of heat. Question 8:- Under isothermal conditions, a gas at 300 K expands from 0.1 L to 0.25 L against a constant external pressure of 2 bar. The work done by the gas is: [Given that 1 L bar = 100 J] (a) 30 J (b) −30J (c) 5kJ (d) 25J
Question 8:- If one mole of ammonia and one mole of hydrogen chloride are mixed in a closed container to form ammonium chloride vapor, then (a) ΔH less than ΔU (b) No relationship (c) ΔH greater than ΔU (d) ΔH=ΔU
Question 9:- The heats of combustion of carbon and carbon monoxide are -393.5kJmol -1 and -283.5kJmol -1 respectively. The heat of formation (in kJ) of carbon monoxide per mole is (a) 676 kJ/mole (b) -676.5 kJ/mole (c) −110kJ/mole (d) 110.5 kJ/mole
