"Born to Run" is the
"Born to Run" is the title track off of the album by Bruce Springsteen which came out in 1975 and featured Garry Tallent on bass. Parts of the album was recorded in Blauvelt, NY, not far from where I grew up. After I recorded the video I came across an isolated bass track for the song. I'm in the ballpark but, after listening to the isolated track, there are a couple of minor things I'd do differently. I definitely wouldn't play the one major clam I dropped in there.
Lynn caught me watching this video last week and said -
Lynn: You did a Bruce Springsteen song?
Troy: Yeah.
Lynn: You have to send me the link to the song so I can send it to my friend, Charlie Guido (real name).
Troy: Why?
Lynn: Because he loves all-things Bruce Springsteen and he plays the bass.
Troy: OK
I was never a fan of Bruce Springsteen but, like many other types of music, I have a much greater appreciation now than I did when I was younger. I think, when I was younger, that I was actually repelled by the artists/groups many people liked just because they were so popular. I never cared for Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Rolling Stones... Maybe one of the reasons I rooted so hard for Rush was because of the underdog status they had for many years. Anyway, I'm sure that one day, many years from now, this song will be looked back upon as an American classic. Yes, I said that.
