If you're in the Bay Area, come see this 18x6 split-flap display in person at Code:ART - a FREE public art exhibition in downtown Palo Alto --- October 7th, 8th, and 9th, 2021 --- 5-10pm

This display is one part of an interactive art piece titled "I/O" and was built by an amazing team of volunteers including myself, and led by Ben Flatau.

I think this is the largest build of my splitflap project to date! The core mechanics, electronics, firmware, and software are all open-source: https://github.com/scottbez1/splitflap

This is the first large-scale test of the new "Chainlink" electronics system, which is based around a dual-core ESP32 to control all 108 stepper motors via 18 Chainlink Driver PCBs. This display is also using the new Chainlink Base as the central controller PCB, which provides up to 5 high-current power channels (3 are used in this build) with independent voltage/current monitoring and load-switches for fault detection/cutoff.
