Laughlin Nevada is a resort
Laughlin Nevada is a resort town located on the Colorado River. Laughlin was named after Don Laughlin, a native of Owatonna Minnesota, who purchased property on the Colorado River in 1964 and by 1966 had built the Riverside Resort. Today several casinos line the shores of the Colorado River in Laughlin Nevada including The Riverside Casino, Aquarius Resort Casino, Golden Nugget Casino and Harrah’s Laughlin.
The Riverwalk is one of the highlights of the Laughlin Nevada experience. Visitors can access casinos, restaurants and water taxis from the boardwalk. In the casino district, the riverwalk extends from The Riverside Resort to the Laughlin River Lodge. The riverwalk also extends through a network of trails all the way to Davis Dam.
Davis Dam is located eight miles north of Laughlin Nevada. It is a dam on the Colorado River that stretches across the border between Nevada and Arizona. The dam created Lake Mohave. Davis Dam was named after Arthur Powel Davis, who was the director of the US Bureau of Reclamation from 1914 to 1923. Davis Dam was complete in 1953 and is operated by the US Bureau of Reclamation.
