Enzymes - GCSE Biology

We describe the mechanism of enzyme action using the "lock and key" theory, where the enzyme's active site is complementary to the substrate's shape, allowing specific binding and reaction. Finally, we distinguish between digestive enzymes that break down substances and synthesis enzymes that build new compounds.
