The cerebrum is divided into two hemispheres – a left and a right – by the falx cerebri. The falx cerebri is a large, sickle-shaped infolding of the inner meningeal layer of the dura mater and lies in the midline of the skull.

It extends between the internal frontal crest and crista galli anteriorly and the upper surface of the tentorium cerebelli posteriorly. The tentorium cerebelli is the second largest septum or fold of the meningeal dura. The falx cerebri contains two dural venous sinuses: In the upper fixed margin of the falx cerebri runs the superior sagittal sinus, while in the lower free margin runs the inferior sagittal sinus.

In this video tutorial we will teach you the most important aspects about the anatomy of the cerebral falx, its definition, location, function and content:

- 0:12 structure of the dura mater
- 0:50 falx cerebri definition and location
- 1:21 dural venous sinuses in the falx cerebri
