How to accelerate Power Electronics R&D cycle with PELab and OPAL-RT Real-Time Simulators | RT21

The typical power electronics R&D cycle includes multiple validation stages such as simulation, rapid control prototyping, and embedded controller development along with HIL validation and hardware validation. Since each stage has a different setup, changing between the stages requires significant wiring and setup time, which slows the development process. To solve this problem, we designed the PELab; the power electronics rapid development system. It is a new platform that enables a seamless transition between the validation stages without changing the wiring or setup, therefore, enabling agile development. The PELab is available in multiple topologies and configurations that cover most of the applications.
