New COVID variant 'not more severe', expert says

There is a new COVID variant - BA.2.86.

Asked about its severity on Sunday Morning with Trevor Phillips, Professor Devi Sridhar said it does not appear to be something to be unduly concerned about.

The professor of global public health at the University of Edinburgh said: "Early studies are showing that it is not more severe in terms of its health impact and also that it's not having a higher hospitalisation rate.
