Renowned British primate expert Jane Goodall (left) had reached out to the zoo as it faces fierce criticism over the shooting of 17-year-old gorilla Harumbe (bottom right) after a young boy fell in his enclosure. Goodall, along with other animal experts, has offered her sympathies to the zoo in a private conversation with director Thomas Maynard (top right). Maynard had said the four-year-old child - who has not been named - was in imminent danger because the gorilla was confused and acting erratically.
