The Indian Military Nursing Services is a part of Armed Forces Medical Services of the Indian Army, first formed under British rule in 1888. An officer in the Military Nursing Services is granted Permanent Commission or Short Service Commission by a Govt Gazette Notification while the NDA exam is conducted by UPSC for admission to the Army, Navy and Air Force wings of the NDA. This exam is a gateway for candidates looking forward to joining Defence Forces including Army, Navy and Air Force. This is a national level exam conducted twice a year: NDA I and NDA II to help candidates make a career in Defence services. National Defence Academy & Naval Academy (NDA & NA) Examination will be a two-step process where candidates first need to take the exam and then qualify the personality test or interview conducted by the Service Selection Board (SSB). The UPSC is solely responsible for issuing guidelines for selection and the final conduct of the entrance examination.
Applicants to the NDA are selected via a written exam conducted by the UPSC every year, followed by extensive interviews by the Services Selection Board covering general aptitude, psychological testing, team skills as well as physical and social skills, along with medical tests. Incoming classes are accepted twice a year for semesters starting in July and January. About 4,00,000 applicants sit for each written exam every year. Typically, about 6,300 of these are invited to interview. The minimum age should be 16 and half years and maximum age should be 19 and half years. The number of students who were admitted to the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy during 1953-54 is 572. Total application received in UPSC 6,061. Applicants who join the Air Force through the flying branch also go through a test called Computerized Pilot Selection System or CPSS for short. About 300 cadets are accepted to the academy each semester. About 70 cadets are accepted for the Air Force, 40 for the Navy, 190 for the Army. Cadets who are accepted and successfully complete the program are sent to their respective training academies for one year of training before granting of commission: army cadets go to Indian Military Academy (IMA) at Dehradun, air force cadets to Air Force Academy (AFA) at Dundigal, Hyderabad, and naval cadets to Indian Naval Academy (INA) at Ezhimala, Kerala.
While the Military Nursing Service is an integral part of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS).[2] The AFMS consists of Army Medical Corps (AMC), Army Dental Corps[3] (ADC) and the Military Nursing Service (MNS). The AFMS personnel serve in the medical establishments of Army, Navy and Air Force. Academic qualification: Candidates who have passed class 12 examinations as a regular student with Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English as their core subjects are eligible to apply for MNS 2021. Applicants appearing for their class 12 examinations are also eligible to fill Indian Army BSc nursing application form. Military Nursing Service(MNS) is a Short Service Commissioned officer Post in the Indian Army. Short Service Commission means to serve it for few years. And MNS is a great opportunity for girls and women who want to serve in the Indian Army as Nursing officer.
