F.E.A.R. 2 is what happens
F.E.A.R. 2 is what happens when an excellent shooter's sequel has to play ball with consoles and be more like Call of Duty.
How do you follow up on one of the finest FPS titles around, F.E.A.R.? Well, you make a sequel that strips away several elements that made the original so special.
Some of F.E.A.R. 2 is a result of needing to build around the consoles available at the time. Some of it is having its foundations changed to copy elements from titles like Call of Duty. The end result is F.E.A.R. 2. An above average military shooter from the late 2000s with elements of horror.

When you're following up on F.E.A.R. 1, one of the greatest FPS titles ever made, that's not so fine.
