Cairo, part 1: 35 km of biking in the largest city of the Arab world

Welcome to Cairo and welcome to my first African bike meters ever. Wheelsabroad got its 6th continent in the biking repertoire! It was not easy to find a suitable bike, but I pulled off the rental on the very last day and it was more than worth it. I biked from downtown through Shubra, a mixed district with churches and mosques. The traffic was……well…..interesting and challenging to navigate. Along the way I had a chance encounter with a local biking kid. At the Ismailia canal I crossed from Cairo Governate into Al-Qalyubia Governate.
