I will always give a dog a chance, multiple chances but I cannot and will not risk the safety of my pack, my staff or especially my organization. We have taken in hundreds of dogs since starting The Asher House we’ve taken everything from adoptable to severe medical and behavioral dogs and with every dog we take in we have to ensure that we can provide the best care and life for that dog and we take that responsibility incredibly seriously. We’ve taken many behavioral cases that have successfully thrived here at the sanctuary. We are one of the few organizations out there right now taking on dogs that have medical and behavioral problems and with that comes risk that we constantly have to evaluate. But what is the alternative? If we disappear who is going to step forward to help these dogs and give them the life that we do here at the sanctuary? I have always been transparent about the work we do here at the sanctuary and that will never change but there are way too many people in animal rescue that spend more time and energy trying to hurt other rescues rather than actually saving dogs. These people do not call themselves animal rescuers in order to be able to save lives, they do it to feel important and significant. They are truly the absolute worst thing possible to the animal rescue community and it’s time that they are held accountable.
