Skopje really is one of
Skopje really is one of those cities you visit and it feels like a different world. There's so much interesting architecture and statues that you could easily be occupied for days just roaming the main sights. We were only there for a day which meant we really needed to make our time there count!
Since the city was mostly leveled by an earthquake in the sixties, they have had a unique opportunity to reinvent their city, and it seems they made the choice to go big! This means massive sculptures lining the main streets, each with their own interesting backstory, and some of the most unfathomably large buildings we've seen! We were able to get a taste of this at the Macedonian Orthodox Church of Saint Clement of Ohrid before getting the full show of it at the Macedonia Square where the centerpiece is a massive 80 foot tall statue!
After admiring this incredible square, we headed over to the Memorial House of Mother Teresa for a fascinating history lesson on her life since she was born in Skopje.
We were so shocked by how much Skopje had to offer that we ended up splitting the video into two parts because it would have been too long to watch in one go! We really hope you enjoy touring this amazing city with us!
