Hello and welcome to another exciting video about the work I do at my peaceful central Portugal heritage farm.
Pruning is a meticulous and ongoing task at the homestead, demanding attention throughout the year. In this episode, I delicately focused on pruning flourishing pear trees, ensuring their continued health.

I also gave dedicated care to the lone pomegranate tree near the primary tank, conducting an intensive pruning session over the reflective waters.
The time had come for a significant and sentimental pruning of the rose bushes in front of the main door. These cherished bushes, planted by my grandmother, required special attention to maintain their enduring beauty.
Additionally, I tackled the challenging task of cutting back the remaining Portuguese brooms (giestas) and rock roses (estevas) in a hard-to-reach spot, eagerly awaiting their vibrant renewal.
Among the almond trees, a careful and hard decision was made to cut down one that had grown crooked due to its proximity to the largest and oldest almond tree. But the almond tree near the house is the one set to benefit the most from the cut of the crooked one. This space will soon be filled with the lush greenery of the other almond trees.
The aftermath of all this intricate cutting and thoughtful pruning results in a sizable pile of branches, waiting to be transformed into ashes scattered across the fields. Of course, this process will be executed meticulously, in accordance with regulations and after receiving the necessary approval from the relevant authorities.
