WHAT IS AXIAL DISPLACEMENT OF
WHAT IS AXIAL DISPLACEMENT OF TURBINE! WHAT IS AXIAL DISPLACEMENT! AXIAL SHIFT OF TURBINE
when high-pressure steam enters into the turbine steam chest after that high-pressure steam exerted an axial force on the turbine rotor in the direction of the axis of the rotor at that time turbine rotor displaced it's position in few mm. that shifting of the rotor is called axial shift or axial displacement of the turbine rotor. if this axial displacement of the turbine rotor increases up to a limit it's could be dangerous for turbine internals or operation so for avoiding it turbine manufacturer used a safety which is EXCESS AXIAL MOVEMENT PROTECTION.
EXCESS AXIAL MOVEMENT PROTECTION
excess axial movement of the turbine shaft is not desirable as closely spaced and fixed parts may come in contact and damages turbine internals. axial shift at either direction is restricted . the trip lever of the tripe device is operated by two projected rings of the turbine shaft. when there is an excessive shift of the shaft in either direction any one of this projected rings operated the trip lever and drains out the tripe oil to stop the turbine.
