Here is a mistake you make when you create shoes. Something that influences the comfort and feel of your shoes. When you design shoes you ignore the importance of using the right materials.Let's break it down.To Design shoes means, that you see the complete product and its assembly. It is the pattern, the choice of suitable shoe last, heels, soles, and materials that you choose. So let's focus on the materials.

You will have a big problem with shoe comfort if you choose the wrong materials. Here is an example of shoes I made.I made these sandals/boots for my 2008 collection and I love the prototype, we tested them with the focused group and they loved them. But the problem was with the comfort. When you walk with these boots they always slip off the heel. The reason for that is mismatched materials. You see, they were built with a concept similar to barefoot shoes: without stiffness,  using soft and flexible uppers with a range of inner elastics. But here is a mistake the sole I used was very thick and stiff. Because the upper was very soft and without stiffeners but the sole was not flexible enough it pulled back the upper and slipped off the foot. Everything separately was done correctly but the combination of materials didn't work with this design.
The are two solutions to this problem:The first solution is to change the material for the sole. I could use some thin and flexible rubber soles and leave everything as it is.The second solution is to use stiffeners in the upper. I chose to add stiffeners because the design of the sole that I created was the main important part of the entire collection. So focus on the entire vision of creating your shoes, do it right, with the correct materials, with the correct shoemaking approach, and don't skip anything
To help you navigate through the entire process of shoemaking, working with different materials, creating different patterns, and making different shoe models, I have created different types of shoemaking courses for you, from basic shoemaking courses like flat ballets, pumps, sandals, loafers, sneakers to more complicated footwear designs like boots, moccasins, welted construction, derby, oxfords and many more, that you can learn and make from home.Let's make shoes together, I will leave a link to my courses below the video!
