The grand, ship-like, green building dominating the IJ Tunnel is known as NEMO. It happens to be the largest science center in the Netherlands and is definitely worth a visit for every inquisitive mind, no matter how young or old.
History of NEMO
The roots of this science center can be traced back to the year 1923 with the founding of the Labour Museum. Its name was later changed to NINT in 1954, and then to newMetropolis in 1997. In the year 2000, the building was christened with its current name 'Science Center NEMO'.
Inaugurated by Queen Beatrix in 1997, NEMO was designed by the Italian architect Renzo Piano. With five floors dedicated to science and technology
