In this video, I interview fellow pacific northwest natives about May 18th, 1980 (the day Mount Saint Helens erupted). Beginning at the North Clark Historical Museum in Amboy, I speak with 2 local historians April and Georgene. They kindly share historical photos and artifacts related to the eruption, and tell personal stories about that day. Next, I travel to nearby Yacolt to speak with my grandma Sherry. She shares stories from over the decades about our family cabin along the Toutle river, as well as neighbors who lost their homes during the mudflow. Finally, I travel to the deep woods to speak with neighbor Al and reminisce about that once in a lifetime day. I highly recommend visiting the North Clark Historical Museum and providing a donation upon your visit. Information to plan your visit can be found here: northclarkhistoricalmuseum.org/ Thanks for watching!
