An introduction to what is simulation, why we simulate, and how we can do so in R while being able to also reproduce our results. The difference between the population distribution and sampling distribution is introduced with an example showing a simulation study from an exponential distribution (population) to empirically evaluate the sampling distribution of the sample mean.

A video for the Biostatistical Methods I (BIOS 6611) course in the Department of Biostatistics and Informatics at the University of Colorado-Anschutz Medical Campus taught by Dr. Alex Kaizer. Slides and additional material available at https://www.alexkaizer.com/bios_6611.
