Giant gnome fights global warming on College of Staten Island campus

Finnish sculptor Kalle Mustonen -- in collaboration with College of Staten Island Art Professor Beatrix Reinhardt – is building a 20-feet-long gnome with the help of 21 CSI students. The gnome represents "a protector of the Earth." Mustonen chose to make the gnome lay down to represent humanity — and in turn, nature — in distress.
