The Bible states that King Ahab of the Northern Kingdom of Israel had an ivory inlaid palace. Here at the archaeological site at Samaria, Joel Kramer, SourceFlix, takes us through the biblical historical narrative. Assyrian King Shalmanezer took three years to finally destroy the Northern Kingdom, some of the people fled to the refugee site constructed at Jerusalem by King Hezekiah, others became the Samaritans that still live locally today. (See King Hezekiah’s Broadwall)
Ahab’s Ivories are on display in the British and Israel museums. Again we have biblical details confirmed by archaeology, with further artefacts in the British Museum. Shalmanezer III’s black Obelisk which shows King Jehu paying homage to Shalmanezer and giving him goods is also on display in the museum (the earliest depiction of an Israelite king).  King Jehu goes on to kill 70 of King Ahab’s children, fulfilling the prophecy of Elijah! The British Museum is full of corroborative artefacts, interconnected so that the biblical historical narrative cannot be tampered with! Thumbnail picture is either Ahab or his father Omri’s tomb!
