A ride through Queensbury Tunnel

Take a virtual bike ride through the disused railway tunnel under Queensbury in West Yorkshire.

Its current custodians, Highways England's Historical Railways Estate, soon intends to spend around £3 million of taxpayers' money filling parts of the structure with concrete as part of an abandonment scheme. However the Queensbury Tunnel Society believes that money would be better invested in repairs, converting the structure into an asset which could then be used as part of a cycle network connecting Halifax to Bradford and Keighley.

This video gives a sense of how the tunnel would look if the repair plan developed by the Society in 2016 - costed at £2.8 million - was implemented.
