In this lesson I begin configuring the Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems using the Initial Configuration Tasks window.  From this window you can activate you Windows license, set the time zone for your computer, configure networking adapters, change the name of the computer, and much more. I configure the network adapter to have a static IP address as well as deactivate the IPv6 protocol.  I also rename the computer to a user-friendly name for the future uses with file sharing.  If the Initial Configuration Tasks window does not open you can type oobe in the start menu to bring it back up.
This video is part of the Server 2008 R2 Series from Lecture Snippets.  The materials need to complete the lessons on your own include a disk image of Microsoft Windows Server 2008, Microsoft Windows 7, and the free download from Virtualbox.org to run the virtual machines.
