BeamNG time attack of the Happogahara downhill touge in 4'38.528 with the Ibishu Covet Street Tuned hot hatch! Inspired by Tachi's EK9 battle in Initial D's Happogahara touge run (stock Street Tuned, except nitrous removed). FWD hatchback sports cars generally respond well to light acceleration in cornering, pulling around turns with surprisingly little understeer. Wheelspin on acceleration is easy with this much power in an older FWD car however, so torque steer is a regular concern in hairpins. They're quite wide still, making handbrake turns unnecessary to drive this course quickly. Still, I find this handling style nearly impossible to drive well in orbit camera, unlike with RWD and AWD drivetrains, or the modern touring car handling of the Vivace, so I did the run in hood camera view. JDM FWD cars handle on rails in a satisfying way with this style of Japanese hill pass, but despite the stability it can still kick the rear out with trailbraking, often with good effect on slip angles in moderation. Time of 4'38.528 is timed from launch at edge of the rest stop turn, to the gates at the end of the pass.
Happogahara V2 was ported from Assetto Corsa to BeamNG.drive by @UkDrifter complete with functional navigation roads, making it a breeze to learn this track quickly!
