Shooting Video in Bright Sunlight Without an ND Filter

If you are going to be shooting video outdoors without an ND Filter, then you must somehow allow less light into the lens. If you want to stay fast to the 180 degree Shutter Rule, then you would close down the aperture to something like F14 or higher.

However, I've learned that many professional videographers prefer to crank up their shutter speed instead of closing down their aperture. Strange huh?

In this video, I compare the difference between closing down the aperture and cranking up the shutter speed to expose correctly.
