Wolf Howl in Asahiyama (Hokkaido, Japan)

Hokkaido is the northern-most main island of Japan. About 120 years ago, Ezo-wolf ("Ezo-Ookami"/Canis lupus hattai) inhabited this land. But all Ezo-wolf died out now. (*Ezo-wolf is species of only Hokkaido. Japanese wolf ("Nihon-Ookami/"Canis lupus hodophilax) is species of Honshu / Shikoku / Kyushu except Hokkaido) Asahiyama zoo in Hokkaido, Japan. The two wolves are kept in this zoo. They are imported "Timber wolf (Canis lupus ssp)". Probably, both wolves came from Canada. The white wolf is female "Mars". The black wolf is male "Ken". In the evening of March 26, 2011, I watched howling of a pair. Just around the end of the courtship season. Maybe, their cubs will be born in this spring.
