সারসংক্ষেপ : মেহেরপুর জেলার গাংনি উপজেলার শহরবাটি গ্রামে পিকেএসএফ অর্থায়নে কুচিয়া চাষে বেশ সাড়া পড়েছে। এই এলাকায় এখন প্রায় অর্ধ শতাধিক চাষী রয়েছেন যারা কুচিয়া চাষে সফলতার মুথ দেখেছেন। দেশিয় বাজারে আদিবাসীদের মধ্যে ছাড়াও কুচিয়ার একটি আন্তর্জাতিক বাজার আছে। বর্তমানে বাংলাদেশ থেকে জাপান, হংকং, কোরিয়া প্রভৃতি দেশে কুচিয়া রপ্তানী হচ্ছে।২০০৮ থেকে ২০০৯ অর্থ বছরে এই খাত থেকে রপ্তানী আয় এসেছে ২.৯ মিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলার ২০১৬ থেকে ২০১৭ অর্থ বছরে এই রপ্তানী আয়ের পরিমান বেড়ে দাঁড়ায় ২৩.৭৮ মিলিয়ন মার্কিন ডলারে। তাই রপ্তানীকারকদের নিকট এটি একটি সম্ভবনাময় রপ্তানী পণ্য হিসাবে বিবেচিত হতে শুরু করেছে।
