Let us get started with Peripheral 1 - General Purpose Input Output :

➡️Getting started with embedded programming, GPIO Pins which stands for General Purpose input Output is one of the very first thing to be played with. The very first and popular program in embedded system programming is blinky i.e. an LED which is connected to a pin on the microcontroller that keeps blinking.
The use of GPIO pins is not limited to driving LED but can be also used for reading digital signal, generating trigger for external components, issuing interrupts, waking up the processors and many more. SO let’s begin with some important concepts of GPIO which is generic and can  be  applied to any microcontroller.

➡️GPIO Port is group of GPIO pins and each GPIO ports are governed by set of  registers as shown here. These registers may vary depending upon vendors who design the microcontroller. In STM32F4xx MCU there may be 10 to 11 GPIO ports but the number of GPIO Ports vary depending upon the MCU selected such as for STM32F401RE has 6 GPIO Ports whereas STM32F429ZI has 11 GPIO Ports starting from Port A to Port K.
