English subtitles available – Suburban Rail Hamburg (Germany): Construction Work at Berliner Tor station and effects on train traffic – Construction work is going on at the bridge of Berlinertordamm street since 2024. That's why suburban trains of line S1 reverse at Berliner Tor station at present. Trains to and from Ohlsdorf and Poppenbüttel arrive and depart at track 1. Passengers have to change trains here when they want to go on in the direction of Wedel. Trains leaving Berliner Tor to Ohlsdorf run on the left hand track at first. (This is unusual for German railways – in Germany trains typically run on the right hand track.) From the bridge of Wallstraße you can see the trains changing to the right hand track east of the bridge. Then trains pass under the bridge of Alfredstraße. The tracks for long distance and regional trains also have connections in both directions here. Regional trains can also change to or from the left to the right track and vice versa when they arrive at Hamburg central station or leave there. At the end of the video you can see the regional express RE 8X to Lübeck. This train leaves Hamburg central station shortly after 4 pm. It stops only at Hasselbrook. Not so long ago this was a push-pull train, hauled by a class 218 Diesel locomotive. Now, in 2024, this is a 4-section Stadler Kiss, class 445 electric multiple unit. In this video Sv signals are mentioned, an old signalling system of suburban rail Hamburg. Back in 2022, Sv signals were still in operation at Hamburg Landwehr station.
