How to Install a 3-Way Dimmer Switch

Once you are ready to install the dimmer switch, turn your circuit breaker off and label the breaker with tape or a note to ensure nobody turns it back on. Make sure the power is off by testing the old light switch and using a circuit tester on the wires. Leave the switch in the off position when you are removing it.

Install the 3-way dimmer switch by matching up the wires by color and twisting them together. Use wire nuts to secure the wires together screw the dimmer switch into the wall.
