Before the Second World War, the Luftwaffe, German Air Force, sought a new, modern fighter to replace its aging biplanes. Four companies responded to this request, but only the designs from Heinkel and Messerschmitt were considered sufficient. The Heinkel He 112 was particularly noteworthy, offering generally acceptable flight characteristics and a strong foundation for further improvements. Despite some aspects of the Heinkel He 112 being superior to the Messerschmitt design, it ultimately was not accepted for service. Consequently, only about 100 units were produced. Most of these were sold abroad, while the remaining aircraft were used in Germany for various testing and evaluation purposes. If you liked this video, please consider donating on Patreon or Paypal!
