In this video I share the 5 most important things you must check before every (FT/HFT/Airgun) competition. All being well, they'll only take you 15 minutes and - if you have a laser rangefinder as part of your kit - can be performed on the day at any zero range and will give you the best chance of success!
These checks are exactly what I carry out either before the day of a competition, on the day, or very often both! There are of course a myriad of different things to check or that could go wrong when you're pushing 'pop-guns' to their limits (that's what makes them such fun, right!?) but these 5 tests are the point of the spear. Anyway, I hope you find something interesting and/or can maybe take something away and to your own pre-shoot routine.
Who am I:
A shooter from an early age, I got my first airgun for my 9th birthday and have been hooked ever since. I started shooting Field Target competitively at 14 and by the time I was 18 I had won numerous national competitions. In 2004, at the ripe old age of 28, I won the WFTF World Field Target Championships.
I remain an active FT shooter and am still (somehow) managing to qualify for the England national team. But I’ve also expanded my interests in recent years, shooting 10m Air Rifle at club and County level and also obtaining my Fire Arms Certificate and dipping my toe into the murky waters of .22 Rimfire and Smallbore shooting generally.
This channel covers all of these disciplines and hopefully more, charting my experiences and I’d like to think occasionally imparting the bit of useful knowledge and tips along the way. Enjoy! 😊
