In this video, we explain how to sketch Nyquist plots of transfer functions by hand. We provide a detailed explanation of how to compute the real and imaginary parts of the Nyquist complex function, and how to deal with imaginary poles. Nyquist plots are used to analyze the stability of dynamical systems.

If you forgot how to sketch Nyquist plots by hand, here is a step-by-step tutorial on how to do that. Please do not ask me why you need to know how to sketch Nyquist/Bode graphs by hand when you might have all these sophisticated tools in your hands, such as MATLAB. I will just say this: you cannot truly learn control and develop deep intuition about control systems without "a pen and paper" way of studying and without hard work. Yes, we should use MATLAB/Python, however, only after we thoroughly learn the basics and after we know what we are actually doing. Unfortunately, I noticed that a number of engineers (especially in the GNC field) use the MATLAB Control Systems/Simulink toolbox without understanding the basics of control.
